Free Year 3 column addition and subtraction worksheets (PDF)
Three-digit sums set out in columns, with carrying and exchanging. For Year 3, ages 7 to 8.
What’s in it
Year 3 is when children start adding and taking away in columns. These three worksheets have twelve three-digit sums each, set out the way schools teach them: adding, taking away, then a mix.
Start with the ones column every time. When a column adds up to 10 or more, the extra ten is carried to the next column; when the top digit is too small to take away from, a ten or a hundred is exchanged (you may know it as borrowing).
