What’s in it
The first page explains how CAT4 works: four parts with two tests each, the timing, the standard age score and the stanine, and that there is no pass mark. Then the verbal and number tests: Verbal Classification, Verbal Analogies, Number Analogies and Number Series, each with an example question of our own, the method and the trap.
The second page has the shape and space tests, drawn: Figure Classification, Figure Matrices, Figure Analysis (fold and punch) and Figure Recognition (a hidden shape). It ends with tips for the day and a ten-minute practice week. Most children have never seen these question types at school, and the first go is always the slowest, so a look at each one beforehand helps.
