Free 11+ English grammar and punctuation cheat sheet (PDF)
The word classes, tenses, spelling rules, every punctuation mark with an example, and the homophones that catch people out. For Years 4 to 6, preparing for an 11+ English paper.
What’s in it
The first page is grammar and spelling: one sentence showing the job of every word in it, each word class with a definition and an example, the seven tenses with how each is formed, and the spelling rules for doubling, i before e, y to i and word endings.
The second page is punctuation: ending a sentence, the jobs of a comma, apostrophes for missing letters and for owners, inverted commas, the colon, semicolon, brackets, dash, hyphen and ellipsis, and the homophones that come up most. It uses the national curriculum’s terms and the same examples as Rush’s English guides.
