Free comprehension question types cheat sheet, with model answers (PDF)
The main kinds of comprehension question on one short passage, each with a model answer, then how to answer for full marks. For Years 3 to 6, for KS2 reading and 11+ comprehension.
What’s in it
The first page has a short story written for the sheet, with numbered lines, and twelve kinds of question asked about it: finding information, finding and copying, word meaning, inference, the main idea, prediction, language, structure, comparison, fact or opinion, true, false or not stated, and putting events in order. Each has what it really asks, an example question with its marks, and a model answer.
The second page is how to answer: point, evidence and explanation with weak and strong answers to one question, reading the passage before the questions, what each question word wants, how the marks tell you how much to write, multiple choice, quoting evidence, using your time, and the answers that lose marks.
